Making your own home brew is a really rewarding hobby which costs very little to get started. For as little as 60p per pint for a malt extract kit or even as little as 25p per pint for an all grain kit you could soon be sitting at home enjoying delicious real ale. After tasting your first home-made pint you will soon discover what an addictive hobby home brewing can be.

If you have never tried making your own beer at home, here’s how easy it is:

• Buy one of our various branded malt extract kits
• Empty the malt extract in to a 25 litre fermenting bucket using hot water
• Top up to 25 litres with more warm water and stir
• Add the yeast that is included in the kit
• Ferment for seven days
• Bottle
• Drink and enjoy!

If you would like to introduce yourself, family and friends to the pleasures of all grain home-made beer, the first step is to send us 500ml of your water that you intend to brew with.

For a small cost we analyse the water sample for all the essential brewing salts required for making first class real ale, made from the same raw materials that many of the well-known micro breweries use. You will then receive a report explaining how to treat your water, using Murphy Home Brew liquor treatments, to optimise the water to make it suitable for brewing with.
